Introducing Frontier Radiology: a physician-led teleradiology practice powered by Harrison.ai
It comes up wherever we go. In Sydney, in London, across Europe and the US. Someone leans in and asks, “so, you’re doing something with a US radiology practice?”
We are. It’s called Frontier Radiology, a physician-led teleradiology practice that reads for US hospitals, health systems and radiology groups. For the past few months, it has been a soft launch. Consider this a formal introduction.
Why hospitals want a finished read
More imaging exists than radiologists, and the gap keeps widening. Hospitals have added scanners and longer hours, but interpretation is the step that hasn’t scaled at the same rate.
Meanwhile, the technology around radiologists changes every few months. Keeping up means evaluating each tool, rebuilding workflows, and retraining teams.
More of the hospitals we talk to want the finished result – a study read and signed by a radiologist they can speak to directly.
Radiologists tell us something that fits alongside it. They want a practice that treats them as physicians, and AI that works with them.
Harrison.ai builds that technology. Frontier is where radiologists use it in live cases.

Meet Frontier Radiology
Frontier Radiology was founded by Dr Joshua Ewell, who currently serves as its President.
Dr Ewell is an emergency and trauma radiologist who spent most of his career in academic emergency departments, where trauma teams and residents walked into the reading room all day.

Dimitry Tran, Harrison.ai co-founder, met Josh at RSNA in 2024 and found they wanted the same thing: a practice where radiologists can deliver high-quality care without drowning in volume. The working relationship that followed was a year in the making.
“Practicing at Frontier means you’re not stuck with off-the-shelf tools that make you learn someone else’s workflow. We provide AI solutions that are truly assistive and highly optimized to the radiologists we work with.”
The US-based teleradiology practice is AI-forward, leveraging technology powered by Harrison.ai.

“I joined Frontier because I believe in what we’re building. Radiology is changing fast, and Frontier is at the front of that change. I’d rather help shape where this technology goes than spend the next ten years reacting to it.”
How Frontier and Harrison.ai work together
Frontier is an independent, physician-owned medical practice with its own governance, clinical protocols, and quality assurance. Its radiologists are engaged by Frontier, hold their own licences, make every clinical decision, and sign their own reports.
Harrison.ai Services, our US services organisation, supports Frontier with non-clinical support: the technology, the reading platform, workflow, scheduling and administrative support.
In many US states, only licensed physicians or physician-owned entities may practice medicine, and Harrison.ai Services does not direct the clinical judgement of Frontier’s physicians. Several US practices work with technology and administrative services companies in this way.
Harrison.ai is a technology company. Through Harrison.ai Services, it also provides administrative services to Frontier.
Why work closely with a practice
The short answer is that you can’t build the future of reporting from outside the reading room.
Frontier radiologists read using AI optimised for them and can choose from tools Frontier has approved for clinical use. A radiologist reads and signs every study.
Much of the conversation about AI in radiology imagines the radiologist as a rubber stamp, approving machine output at whatever pace the machine sets. Frontier is built the other way round: the radiologist leads, and the technology assists.
Radiologists also tell us what helps and what gets in the way, and that shapes how the technology is built.

What it’s like to read at Frontier
You’re known by name. Frontier is physician-led, and its leadership still reads every day. Medical Directors and Regional Medical Directors support you in the hard cases; you never have to read alone. A 24/7 operations team makes the critical findings calls, chases priors and takes calls from techs and the ED, which leaves you free to stay focused on the images.
As a radiologist, you build a schedule around your life: we offer flexibility with schedules for days, nights, weekends, and overnight.
You read on a modern system built for today’s workflows; Frontier provides an Apple Mac Studio with FDA-cleared diagnostic monitors. You never have to touch a hospital’s own systems, and you help shape the tools you use.
Your salary is transparent. Pay is per wRVU, the same for everyone, and it never depends on whether your read matches the AI’s. Frontier covers licensing and privileging and provides claims-made malpractice insurance with tail coverage included.
If you’re a US radiologist
Frontier is hiring board-certified and board-eligible radiologists. Frontier’s earnings calculator shows up front how you’re compensated. Estimates are illustrative and depend on volume, case mix and schedule.
