Statement on our review of a promotional video

We are aware of concerns raised regarding information appearing briefly in a promotional video on our YouTube channel and are reviewing the matter.
The material in question appeared for 3 seconds in a 130-second video. It did not come from our datasets but was displayed on an external system that was incidentally visible during filming. YouTube analytics showed it had 52 views when we removed it.
We hold ourselves to a high bar on both privacy and transparency and take this matter seriously.
To protect privacy, we will not comment on individual-specific information.
Once our review is complete, we will share an update on this page.
Update – 2 October 2026
Following our review, we confirm that a video we published inadvertently contained private information displayed on an external system’s monitor for approximately 3 seconds when viewed in high resolution.
This should not have happened, and we sincerely apologise to the patient impacted.
As soon as we became aware of the issue, we acted quickly to remove the video and notified the owner of the external system.
Patient privacy is central to our work. This incident involved footage from a marketing video, not data we hold. Our research data is de-identified before we receive it, and encrypted – and we are ISO/IEC 27001 certified.
We have also reviewed our filming and content-review processes, and are implementing additional safeguards and training to prevent this from happening in future.
